The youth at the national broadcaster's radio station remembered the late president, who endured media scrutiny but did not limit the freedom of the media, proclaiming that 'no journalist will be arrested as long as he is the president".

World radio day bears significance for sport broadcasters

As World Radio Day was celebrated around the world on Monday, a local event also took place at Nbc Radio in Windhoek. 

It was organised by UNESCO, in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. Among the aspects that require special attention on occasions like these is sport broadcasting.

Sport broadcasting on Radio - whether it is about local or international games - is something that has been cherished by listeners of various Nbc Radio Services and other private radio stations around the world over the years.

Radio personalities do not get the recognition they deserve- Shitaleni

Radio personalities in Namibia do not get the recognition they deserve.

These were some of the sentiments expressed by Franklin Shitaleni, a radio presenter at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's (nbc) National FM. 

nbc News spoke with Shitaleni ahead of World Radio Day, which is observed annually on February 13th.

Shitaleni, who has been a radio presenter for about 8 years now, says that being a radio presenter is not only about having a good voice but also being knowledgeable and qualified for the position.
