Investigations continue in missing stillborn's body

The Namibian Police are investigating the matter in which the body of a stillborn baby disappeared from the Windhoek State Mortuary.

Police national spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi confirmed that the matter was brought to the attention of the police on June 1st, six months after the disappearance of the body.

Shikwambi informed nbc News that most of the statements have been taken by the police.

Shikwambi further confirmed that this is the first case of a missing body from the state mortuary registered with the police.

Body of Engelbert Mudumbi Zakaria found at Sikondo Village

The body of 52-year-old Engelbert Mudumbi Zakaria was found at Sikondo Village, 15 kilometres west of Rundu.

The body was found along the Kavango River on Sunday, and an autopsy is still pending to determine the cause of death.

A similar discovery was made on the same day at Uvhungu Vhungu Village.

The body of a male was found floating in the river by community members, who alerted the police.

Community members helped to retrieve the body.

Community Against Stock Theft Organization calls on government to nationalize the body

Vice Chairperson of the Community Against Stock Theft Organization, Kahepako Kakujaha is calling on the government to nationalize the body, saying livestock theft has become a cross-regional problem of unimaginable size.

Kakujaha also says the Criminal Prosecution Act should be repealed to deny bail to repeat offenders.

The consultative meeting brought together representatives from Otjozondjupa and Omaheke Regions.

No end in sight for missing baby body from the Windhoek state mortuary

The parents accusing the Windhoek State Mortuary for the disappearance of their baby's body from the mortuary, have still not received any news from the relevant authorities almost two months after the incident occurred.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services' spokesperson Walter Kamaya, last week informed nbc News that the ministry is busy with investigations.

"I was briefed this morning by the head of the mortuary that investigations into this matter are being carried out. The Ministry will pronounce itself once the investigation is done" said Kamaya.
