The re-elected chairperson of the Hardap Football Association in Mariental, Michael Situde, is appealing to the Mariental Municipality for assistance in acquiring land under the FIFA Forward program. Situde aims to build a center that can benefit local football clubs.

Situde informed NBC Sport that currently, 90 percent of the football clubs in Mariental are training on gravel fields due to the lack of proper stadiums. He also mentioned that those who do have proper fields demand high rental rates, leading many teams to travel to neighboring towns for tournaments.

Mariental Municipality scores qualified audit opinion

The Auditor General has issued a qualified opinion to the Mariental Municipality for the year that ended in June 2022.

A qualified audit opinion is issued when financial statements contain material misstatements or omissions.

According to the audit report, the municipality failed to disclose the open lands and leased farmlands in the financial statements.

The Mariental municipality also did not prepare the cash flow statement using the direct method.

However, the municipality disclosed non-cash items in preparing the statement.

Mariental residents unhappy with brown water

Mariental residents are complaining about the brown color of the water in the town, which they fear could pose a health risk.

According to Werner Von Watsdorf, a resident, the situation has been going on since the end of October last year. "We're dealing with a dirty drinking water situation; I'm not talking about slight cloudiness; I'm talking about dirty, unpurified, muddy water. Now, despite many meetings and discussions with the municipality and with NamWater, nothing has happened."
