The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, said a Quantum bus was available for the Namibia Correctional Service officials who died in the Mariental accident on Saturday.

She said it remains unclear why the officers were transported in a vehicle reserved for inmates.

The Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, has called on members of the force to prepare themselves to maintain law and order during the upcoming November national elections .

Lieutenant General Shikongo sounded the warning while addressing officers at the Oshikango police station in the Ohangwena Region.
