Public Relations and Regional Community Affairs Officers are expected to maintain and solicit public trust at all times through daily interactions.

Thirty officials from all the country's 14 regions, underwent a four-day workshop that was aimed at enhancing their competencies and abilities.
 
Legal and ethics, freedom of expression, access to information, the safety of journalists, the importance of TV/Radio, interviews as well as handling of video footage and photography were some of the topics covered during the workshop.

Delivering the speech on the behalf of the Inspector-General of the Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo was Commissioner Monalisa Molebugi.

"I should emphasize that it is your task to ensure that members of the public are well informed with accurate information on police-related matters, however, such information needs to be properly analyzed and verified to ensure that it is fit for public consumption. Members of the Force should never stop learning, law enforcement and the dynamics of policing are changing almost daily, hence, affecting the way we do business."

Facilitators urged the officials to write clear, concise, objective and accurate information and use the skills gained at the workshop.

The workshop also touched on how officials can garner the communities' support, influence and motivation to work with the Police as well as mitigating approaches when dealing with the public through various media platforms and crime prevention without compromising the integrity of the Force.

Media experts amongst them Anna Nicodemus, Toivo Ndjebela, Sinvula Mudabeti and Anthony Auchab facilitated the workshop.

The participants as well as the facilitators received certificates of attendance.
