Omaheke Council aims to improve residents' living standards

The Omaheke Regional Council is aimed at improving the living standards of the local people through various interventions, such as employment creation and other capital projects. 

Speaking at the first ordinary council meeting at Gobabis, the Chairperson, Ignatius Kariseb, pointed out that agriculture is one of the key areas with immense potential to create job opportunities and address pressing social issues faced by communities, such as food insecurity.

Omaheke Regional Council and partners to electrify Okatumba

The Omaheke Regional Council, in partnership with NamPower and CENORED, is set to electrify Okatumba Growth Point in the Otjombinde Constituency.

The six-month project is set to cost N$2.5 million and will start on October 24.

At the site handover at Okatumba Gate, Wenzel Kavaka, councillor of Otjombinde, said that with this new development, the livelihoods of most are set to improve through business opportunities, and temporary job opportunities will be presented to locals during this period of six months.

Farmers called to desist from evicting employees due to disagreements

The Chairperson of the Omaheke Regional Council, Ignatius Kariseb, has called on the residents, particularly farmers, to desist from evicting employees because of disagreements.

Kariseb said this when he visited the family of Joseph Jacobs, who has been offloaded along the corridors of the Kalahari Constituency, allegedly by the employer at Farm Somekoms.

Kariseb, who is also the councillor of the Kalahari Constituency, called on the farmers to desist from evicting employees over an argument.

Omaheke Regional Council & US Embassy to cooperate in various areas

The Omaheke Regional Council and the US Embassy have agreed to cooperate in the areas of agriculture, rural development, and health care.

US Ambassador Randy Berry paid a courtesy visit to the region's leadership at Gobabis.

Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate shared the region's goals for development and self-sufficiency and welcomed a partnership with the US government as an opportunity to learn from the world's most renowned industrialized nation.
