ACC clears NAMCOR managing director Immanuel Mulunga

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared suspended NAMCOR managing director Immanuel Mulunga of any wrongdoing.

In a brief statement, ACC Director Paulus Noa says that there is no evidence to prove that Mulunga had criminal intent when he transferred money to an Angolan-based oil company.

Noa says that though Mulunga had no authorisation from the board when he transferred over N$100 million, he did so in the best interest of the company and the country.

The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) has suspended its Managing Director, Immanuel Mulunga.

Its chairman said in a statement that the board has resolved to suspend Mulunga pending an investigation.

It is alleged that Mulunga made a N$100 million payment to two Angolan oil blocks without the approval of the board.

The NAMCOR board has called on the public and media to give it time to finalize the investigation process in a respectful manner.

PDM leader calls for suspension of NAMCOR's MD Immanuel Mulunga

The leader of the official opposition, McHenry Venaani, has called for the suspension of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia's (NAMCOR) Managing Director, Immanuel Mulunga.

Venaani says the nature of current events at the state oil company calls for an integrity inquiry and therefore wants the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Iipumbu Shiimi, to act within 48 hours.

The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) will also move a motion in Parliament to initiate a parliamentary investigation into the allegations leveled against senior management at NAMCOR.
