Nandi-Ndaitwah tours factories in Luderitz

Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has commended the NovaNam fishing company at Luderitz for adding value to local produce. 

She made the observation after a tour of the fish factory as part of her working visit to ||Kharas Region. 

The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Justice, Yvonne Dausab, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, and ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick. 

Namibia Ocean Cluster committed to maximising use of all seafood harvested

The founding members of the newly formed Namibia Ocean Cluster have committed to minimising waste and fully exploiting the socio-economic benefits of fish harvested in Namibia.

This commitment was formalised at a public event in Walvis Bay today, where the six founding members and the three association founding members of the ocean cluster signed the document, committing them to use fisheries resources more effectively.

The founding members are certified hake fishing companies: Embwinda, Hangana, Merlus, Novanam, Pereira, and Seawork.

Workers of NovaNam unhappy with distribution of shares

Workers of NovaNam at Luderitz in the ||Kharas Region claim they have been kept in the dark on the distribution of N$10 million in workers' shares in the fishing company.

The workers handed over a petition to the HR Manager, demanding an audience with the company's management on the status of their shares.

Delivering the petition on behalf of the workers, Rebekka Uusiku called on the management of NovaNam not to change the shareholding of 15% of the workers to trustees without the workers' consent.
