Roaming predators, a limited underground water supply, and the abundance of a poisonous plant known locally as Gifblaar or Otjikurioma continue to impact commercial farming operations in rural communal areas.

The Otjombinde community has expressed renewed hope following the establishment of a 16-hectare community garden in the area.
Eight hectares of the garden are already under cultivation.

Marenga died about a week ago aged 65.
