Kunene Regional Governor Marius Sheya has presented Vice President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah with a briefing note detailing the goals the Regional Council hopes to achieve.

These range from road upgrades to drought relief assistance and the proclamation of the villages of Kamanjab, Torra Bay, and Terrace Bay to municipalities.

The note was presented during Nandi-Ndaitwah's regional visit, which started at Outjo in the presence of cabinet ministers, regional and local authority councillors, and other stakeholders.

These are the views of Deputy Minister of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare, Bernadette Jagger, when she addressed the Women and Girls Conference on Teenage Pregnancy held yesterday.

She highlighted that the escalation of such social issues is driven by poverty, peer pressure, sexual abuse, a lack of parental involvement, and harmful cultural beliefs.

Family members from 17 households in the OvaHimba community have been evicted from a resettlement farm on the outskirts of Kamanjab in the Kunene Region.

The affected families, who have been living alongside the gravel road for two weeks now, said they have nowhere to go.

The group of about 40 people told nbc News that they were dumped here by the new owner, who settled on the farm at the beginning of this year.
