Trade Minister motion to align copyright protection with ARIPO

A motion tabled by the Minister of Industrialization and Trade (MIT), Lucia Iipumbu, is set to bolster intellectual property rights by ratifying the Kampala Protocol on voluntary registration of copyright and related rights to streamline copyright protection across African states under the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO).

The Kampala Protocol promotes voluntary registration of copyrights, offering creators clearer legal rights and enforcement avenues.

Stakeholders to conduct study on informal economy

In cooperation with the UN in Namibia, the Bank of Namibia, the Ministries of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment Creation, Industrialization, and Trade intend to conduct a study to comprehend the informal economy and its diversity, pinpoint solutions for related problems, and highlight opportunities for interventions.

The Minister of Industrialization and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, has described Namibia's participation at the 53rd General Assembly of the World Trade Centre Association in Accra, Ghana, as a success.

The event was held in Africa for the first time, and the participation of many countries on the continent, including Namibia, has made it all the more spectacular.

Iipumbu commended the government of Ghana for giving Namibia the opportunity to participate in the World Trade Centre Association.
