ICJ orders Israel to avoid acts of genocide in Gaza

The International Court of Justice has ruled in favour of South Africa's request for emergency measures in its genocide case against Israel.

While the 17 judges of the ICJ did not rule on the allegations of genocide, a majority decision of the court did order Israel, among others, to take steps to prevent acts of genocide in its war in Gaza.

The court, however, did not order a ceasefire but requested that Israel allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Egyptian experts to assist in food security

Egypt has hailed Namibia's position in Israel's war on Gaza, which calls for an end to attacks and for Israel to refrain from engaging in provocative acts against the Palestinian people.

Namibia, just like Egypt and other African countries in particular, have been urging Israel to respect international humanitarian laws and to have greater regard for civilians, including women and children, as well as civilian infrastructure.

UNSC urged to act swiftly in Israel-Palestine conflict

President Hage Geingob has called on the UN Security Council to act swiftly and ensure that resolutions regarding the rights of the people of Palestine to live in peace are respected and for them to determine their own future.

Dr. Geingob, in a statement, further appealed for peace between Israel and Palestine and called for an end to the killing of innocent civilians and the destruction of infrastructure in the occupied Gaza Strip.

Namibia welcomes ceasefire between Egypt and Gaza

Namibia has welcomed the ceasefire between Egypt and Gaza.

The ceasefire ends a five-day Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has claimed many innocent civilian lives and left countless injured.

In a media statement, Namibia reaffirms its solidarity with the people of Palestine and reiterates its long-standing and unequivocal call for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to independently co-exist with the State of Israel in line with the relevant United Nations Resolutions.
