Egypt has hailed Namibia's position in Israel's war on Gaza, which calls for an end to attacks and for Israel to refrain from engaging in provocative acts against the Palestinian people.

Namibia, just like Egypt and other African countries in particular, have been urging Israel to respect international humanitarian laws and to have greater regard for civilians, including women and children, as well as civilian infrastructure.

President Geingob had repeated calls for Israeli authorities to halt the violence and devastating airstrikes in Gaza, likening these to genocide and akin to the brutality that Namibians experienced under colonialism.

Egypt shares the Rafah border with Gaza in the south and bears the brunt of a large-scale influx of refugees fleeing the indiscriminate bombing in the disputed territory.

Al Jazeera reports that on Monday, a group of 28 premature babies from Gaza were evacuated from a hospital inside the besieged Palestinian enclave to Egypt to receive treatment.

On Tuesday, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said the Isreali bombing targeting displaced people in south Gaza has "a clear objective," and that is to force the enclave's residents to leave.

More than 14,100 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7.
