Egypt stands ready to assist Namibia in any way it can, as the country continues to navigate the impact of the death of the late President Hage Geingob.

Mohamed Hegazy, the Special Envoy of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, conveyed a message of condolence to President Nangolo Mbumba at State House.

He says Egypt shares Namibia's grief, given the solid historical ties between the two countries that have borne successes in project cooperation over the years.

Namibia has welcomed the ceasefire between Egypt and Gaza.

The ceasefire ends a five-day Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has claimed many innocent civilian lives and left countless injured.

In a media statement, Namibia reaffirms its solidarity with the people of Palestine and reiterates its long-standing and unequivocal call for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to independently co-exist with the State of Israel in line with the relevant United Nations Resolutions.

Geingob disappointed by lack of commitment to Green Climate Fund

President Hage Geingob says it is regrettable that only US$23 billion has been committed to the Green Climate Fund thus far, as developing countries continue to battle the effects of climate change.

Dr Geingob put forward Namibia’s position in the national statement submitted to the COP27 meeting underway in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Namibia, President Geingob says, encourages developed countries to support developing countries by capitalizing on the Green Climate Fund. 

President Geingob leaves for Egypt to attend 27th Conference of Parties to COP27

President Hage Geingob left for Egypt on Sunday to attend the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27). The conference, which will take place in Sharm el-Sheikh from the 6th to the 18th of November, will push leaders to commit to achieving a zero-carbon future for all.

This year's conference will bring together leaders in governments, civil society, industries, and finance from around the world to raise ambition and accelerate action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Namibia raises N$1. 2 million towards the UN's COP27 conference participation

A total of N$1.2 million was raised for the COP27 conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The conference will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6–18.

The funds, sponsored mostly by private and public-private entities, will go towards the set-up of the Namibian pavilion that will be displayed at the conference.

There will be different discussions on climate change and how Namibia is tackling the problem.
