Political parties called to be exemplary in conduct ahead of elections

President Nangolo Mbumba has urged the political parties to be exemplary in their conduct as the nation approaches elections.

Dr. Mbumba says the unity and stability in the country are to the benefit of every citizen, irrespective of their political party membership.

The President emphasised this during a courtesy call by the leadership of Swanu at State House.

Namibia's development goals aligned with UN priorities - Bhatia

The UNDP Resident Representative to Namibia, Alka Bhatia, says Namibia's development priorities are the same as those of the UN, and these are aligned with the UNDP country programme. 

Bhatia and her deputy paid a courtesy call to President Nangolo Mbumba at State House, where she provided an overview of some of the activities.

The work of the UNDP in Namibia is premised on pillars under its strategic framework, including the reduction of poverty and inequality.

President Mbumba advises investors to talk to ministries first

President Nangolo Mbumba has reiterated that any proposal for development projects is welcome, but said discussions must first be exhausted at the line ministries before reaching the State House.

Dr. Mbumba says this approach is crucial when decisions are taken for projects to commence to the benefit of the country.

The president's response follows a proposal by the Austrian housing project, Global Housing Solutions, which considers itself a world leader in innovative, modular building solutions for social housing.

Namibia and China businesses urged to partner in health sector

President Nangolo Mbumba has called for professional partnerships between Namibian businesses and Chinese counterparts in the health sector. 

Dr. Mbumba received a courtesy call from the delegation from AIDEA Pharma, a high-tech pharmaceutical company, at State House.

Among others, the China-based AIDEA Pharma company aims to accelerate drug innovation with a rigorous scientific attitude. 

According to Dr. Heliang Fu, the chairman of AIDEA Pharma, the strong focus is on the major diseases that seriously threaten human health. 

President Mbumba commends Germany's commitment to Green Hydrogen project

President Nangolo Mbumba has applauded Germany's commitment to the realisation of the Green Hydrogen project and programme in Namibia. 

Dr. Mbumba met with the Energy Envoy of Germany, Rainer Baake, at State House.

The German government has been supporting Namibia's Green Hydrogen programme through funding for private companies to develop projects in different parts of the country.

One such is the company HyIron, established through a partnership of Namibian and German companies that work in the field of renewable energies and engineering. 

First Lady addresses inequalities

First Lady Sustjie Mbumba hosted a high-level Roundtable Discussion on inequalities, HIV, TB, Malaria, and Pandemics at State House on Friday.

During the opening of the discussion, Madame Mbumba encouraged individuals and organisations to speak out against inequality or injustice.

The First Lady says that there can be no rest until equality is achieved.

Nangolo Mbumba new head of state

It was a solemn atmosphere at State House today as Cabinet ministers reacted to the passing of President Hage Geingob.

nbc Senior Producer Gordon Joseph spoke to Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and other Cabinet ministers at the swearing-in ceremony.

Nandi Ndaitwah said Geingob's legacy would be edged into the history of Namibia, describing his life as one dedicated to Namibia and its people.

Learners, teachers from Oshikoto Region visit State House

President Hage Geingob has encouraged school learners to take their studies seriously, true to the saying that 'education is the greatest equaliser'.

Learners and teachers from the Oshikoto Region visited State House as part of their school tour to Windhoek.

The pupils are from Tsumeb English Medium, Ontana Combined School, and Nehale Secondary School, from grades seven to twelve.

The visit to State House saw them engage the President and senior officials from the Presidency.

Namibian health system remains under control

The public health situation in Namibia remains stable and under control, and the government is pleased with the World Health Organisation's (WHO) performance.

This assurance was provided by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, during the courtesy call by the WHO Chief at State House.

In the past, Namibia experienced an overburden of communicable diseases such as HIV, TB, and malaria.

This has seen the government increase investments in the health sector to bring infection rates under control and ensure access to treatment.
