Okahandja Municipality to restore water supply

The Okahandja municipality restored the town's water supply earlier this afternoon. 

The disruption was caused by a pipe burst on Thursday after the heavy rains, which damaged the town's main water supply line. 

NamWater reports rising dam levels

NamWater recorded positive inflows into key dams across the country for the first week of March.

Recent rainfall contributed to improved water levels across the Swakoppoort, Von Bach, Omatako, and Omatjenne dams, offering a welcome boost to Namibia's water storage capacity.

The drought conditions plaguing farmers across the country also affect Hardap Irrigation Scheme farmers, who have had water supply to their irrigation plots suspended this week.

This is due to critically low water levels in the Hardap Dam.

NamWater is calling on residents of central Namibia to use water sparingly as the area is facing a serious water shortage. 

Currently, the central area of Namibia gets its water supply from the Omatako, Von Bach, and Swakoppoort dams.
