Brazilian directors hosts local training for film makers

A first-ever Brazilian Film Workshop in Namibia took place in Windhoek and saw the participation of more than 40 people. The two-day film workshop was conducted by Brazilian directors Tizuka Yamasaki and Emanoel Freitas.

Films have the power to shape a narrative, retell history, or simply bring to life an idea that existed only in the mind of a filmmaker.

The two-day workshop by Tizuka Yamasaki, a renowned film director, and Emanoel Freitas, a producer from Brazil, was an insightful exercise that was appreciated by aspiring students and film makers.

Round Table Namibia assists senior citizens in Katutura's Donkerhoek

Hundreds of senior people in the Donkerhoek, Katutura, have been identified by Round Table Namibia, a nonprofit organisation that focuses on community-based projects to improve the lives of communities, as beneficiaries of their programme.

During the winter, the organisation has been raising funds to support elderly people and vulnerable communities that are at risk across Namibia.

So far, they have been giving back to the community by providing primary healthcare, assisting vulnerable households, and running a soup kitchen.

Youth encouraged to vote

Young people have been encouraged to exercise their democratic rights by voting.

Tukwatha Youth Organisation, which held a youth voting discussion, says young people's participation in elections determines the future they will have.

The platform served as an opportunity for young individuals to gain a deeper understanding of the electoral process, know the importance of voting, and be aware of their power to protect the country's democracy as well as hold those in power accountable.

Youth presented opportunity to explore latest ICT trends

Young people will once again be presented with an opportunity to explore the latest information and communication technology trends and present their latest innovations and inventions within the ICT space at this year's 7th National ICT Summit.

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) is thus calling on stakeholders to take part in the Summit.

The National ICT Summit will create a platform for stakeholders to discuss trends and challenges facing the industry locally and globally.

Youth in ||Kharas attend workshop on mainstream politics

Twenty young people participated in a one-day workshop at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region with a focus on mainstream politics and youth involvement in the democratic process.


The workshop is facilitated by Queen Pieter, a youth activist who says that the participation of young people in mainstream politics strengthens democracy and the rule of law.

She says that voter apathy among young people creates the impression that young people are not interested in politics and discussions of development.
