Harvest at the Shadikongoro Green Scheme in the Kavango East Region has been delayed for a month due to a lack of equipment.

Mourners showed up in large numbers for a candlelight ceremony held in honour of late Founding President Sam Nujoma at the Kavango East Governor's Office, despite the drizzle.

The Governor of Kavango East Region, Bonifatius Wakudumo, has joined the nation in mourning the death of Namibia’s first president, Dr. Sam Nujoma, describing him as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to the country’s freedom and development.

Freedom fighter Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma also valued his spirituality.

Bishop Emeritus Johannes Sindano, a church elder, spoke to nbc news about how Nujoma's faith impacted his fellow soldiers. 

The police at Rundu are investigating a case in which a 20-year-old man died during the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) recruitment selection test.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 05 February 2025, at about 12:00.

After six days with its doors shut, classes have resumed on Wednesday at Japhet Haiyambo Primary School and Hompa Sophia Junior Primary School at Rundu.

The two schools were both temporarily closed following a sewarage blockage, and broken ablution facilities.

Rundu Town Council is recommending that Japhet Haiyambo Primary School and Hompa Sophia Junior Primary School temporarily close their doors while the lingering issues of sewage blockage and nonfunctional ablution facilities for learners are sorted.

The National African Student Association (NASA) is calling for improvement in the quality of education.

This comes after NASA's assessment on the recent developments in the Namibian education landscape.

NASA shared this during a media briefing at Rundu.

Heavy rains over the weekend have damaged Simwege Primary School in Katjinakatji Village, Kavango West. The makeshift school in Mankumpi Constituency serves 58 grade one and two learners. Classrooms and learning materials were destroyed, and the village lost electricity.

Selfless acts of giving continue as learners return to the classroom.

In the Kavango East Region, the Rob Youth Foundation donated school uniforms and sanitary pads to needy learners at Likwaterera Primary School.
