Malalankanga Primary School now open

The Zambezi Education Directorate has opened a new primary school in the Kabbe North Constituency.

The school will mainly accommodate children from Libula and Kalimbeza villages who previously had to walk on foot to far-off schools.

The Malalankanga Primary School was started as a community school project by locals to address the distance learners had to walk to the nearest schools.

It has now been approved as a government school, with learners in the area going to their school just a stone's throw away.

September launched as month for lifelong learning

The Zambezi Education Directorate has officially launched September as the month for lifelong learning.

Residents marched in celebration of the launch at Katima Mulilo.

The launch incorporates adult learner's week, which runs from the first to the 8th of September, as well as international literacy day on the 8th.

The aim is to raise awareness about the value of adult learning, celebrate achievements, and inspire more people to discover the positivity of lifelong learning.

Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School commits to hosting annual awards

In a bid to motivate Grade 11 learners to excel academically, Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School in the Zambezi Region has committed to hosting yearly awards for learners and teachers who perform well.

The school awarded teachers and learners who performed well in this year's first semester with certificates and medals.

The ceremony was graced by officials from the Ministry of Education as well as guest speaker James Sankwasa, who encouraged learners to work hard in the upcoming final examinations.

Zambezi Region community urged to help fight illegal fishing

The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Derek Klazen, has appealed to community members and stakeholders to help fight illegal fishing in the Zambezi Region.

Klazen and his delegation are on a four-day tour of the region to engage with various stakeholders and visit several fish farms.

These are the Likunganelo, Chata, and Imuran Fish Farms.

The delegation also visited the Katima Mulilo Open Market.

NamPol encourages individuals to join community police units

The Police Inspector-General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Dr. Albert Kawana, have encouraged more individuals to join the community police units in their respective regions.


Speaking during a community meeting in Zambezi, Lieutenant General Shikongo applauded the region's high number of volunteers who are actively engaged in the community police programme.
