In a bid to motivate Grade 11 learners to excel academically, Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School in the Zambezi Region has committed to hosting yearly awards for learners and teachers who perform well.

The school awarded teachers and learners who performed well in this year's first semester with certificates and medals.

The ceremony was graced by officials from the Ministry of Education as well as guest speaker James Sankwasa, who encouraged learners to work hard in the upcoming final examinations.

The last year's top performer was also awarded a floating trophy, a medal, and cash from the school's Grade 11 motivation fund if they qualified for advanced subsidiary.

Learners were also advised to carefully consider their future preferred careers and study towards them, but with the needs of the job market in mind.

Parents should also give some sort of liberty to their children to choose careers of interest because making a choice for them may result in failure when they finally enter the tertiary education stage.
