Namibia Boxing & Wrestling Control Board Holds Awards Night

The Namibia Boxing & Wrestling Control Board held its first-ever Boxing Awards ceremony last night at the National Theatre of Namibia. Boxers, promoters, trainers, and media were recognized for their contributions to boxing. The Boxing Control Board was appointed in 2021 by the Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service to supervise professional boxing activities in the country. The board hosted its first Awards ceremony to honor and recognize the boxing community's commitment and outstanding achievements of the calendar year 2023.

Namibia Chess Federation to host First-ever Awards in December

As the year 2023 draws to a close, the Namibia Chess Federation is gearing up to host its first-ever Chess Awards in December. President Goodwill Khoa of the Namibia Chess Federation has shared some insights into the upcoming event.

Before the Awards Ceremony, the Namibian Chess Federation has a couple of competitions left on their calendar. The Bank Windhoek Women's Rapid Chess Challenge is scheduled for December 10th and 11th, followed by the Kehat Beukes Legacy Tournament in Swakopmund on the 16th and 17th of December.

|Khomas teachers awarded

The |Khomas Regional Council held an award ceremony for the teachers in the region.

The awards are meant to recognise, appreciate, and honour all those who have contributed positively to education in the region.

Paulus Nghikembua, the |Khomas Region's director of education, described education as a calling that necessitates one's responsibility, obligation, and accountability.


"We could not do it in 2021, and we could also not do it last year, but this year we are doing it to acknowledge the work that you have done."

Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School commits to hosting annual awards

In a bid to motivate Grade 11 learners to excel academically, Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School in the Zambezi Region has committed to hosting yearly awards for learners and teachers who perform well.

The school awarded teachers and learners who performed well in this year's first semester with certificates and medals.

The ceremony was graced by officials from the Ministry of Education as well as guest speaker James Sankwasa, who encouraged learners to work hard in the upcoming final examinations.

Erongo Governor awards local police

The Governor of Erongo Region, Neville Andre, presented a recognition award to the local police for their efforts to combat drug trafficking.

The award comes after the recent seizure of more than 30 kg of cannabis worth N$1.5 million in a period of three days.

Seven suspects, all Namibians, have been arrested at Walvis Bay.

Governor André urged members of the public to collaborate with the police in order to stop the drug trade.

He applauded the police for a job well done.
