Mateus Johannes appears in court

28-year-old Mateus Johannes made his second court appearance in two days for the murder of 22-year-old Claudia Kambanza in Hull, in the United Kingdom, last Friday.

Johannes, a Namibian national, appeared before Hull Crown Court, following his Monday appearance before the Hull Magistrate's Court.

A statement from Hull's Humberside police, published on Facebook, says Johannes was arrested on Friday, and a murder investigation has been launched following the death of Kambanza.

Prosecution given ultimatum in murder case

The Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court has given the state 30 days to obtain the Prosecutor General's decision on the murder case of two police officers accused of killing a local resident, Elleste Plaatjies.

The state, represented by Prosecutor Marlong Adam, asked for a third postponement when the cases of Mulisa Bernard and Willbard Neshuku resumed.

The police officers were arrested in January of this year.

Malakia Shipanga denied bail

42-year-old Malakia Shipanga was denied bail during his first appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court for the murder of a 36-year-old man in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay, over the weekend.

According to the incident report provided by the Erongo Police, a fight broke out at a house on Kilimandjaro Street in the Tutaleni suburb of Kuisebmond around 15:20 on Sunday.

Erwin Frans pleads not guilty

Erwin Frans, 38, accused of murder and two counts of attempted murder as well as assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm, pleaded not guilty before the High Court Circuit Sitting held in Katima Mulilo on Thursday.

Frans faces six counts related to the murder of his girlfriend, Mwaaka Kopelo, in February 2021 at Macaravan West near Katima Mulilo.
 
Erwin Frans pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and to possessing ammunition without a licence.

His not-guilty plea was not communicated to his Legal Aid government-funded lawyer.
