The Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court has given the state 30 days to obtain the Prosecutor General's decision on the murder case of two police officers accused of killing a local resident, Elleste Plaatjies.

The state, represented by Prosecutor Marlong Adam, asked for a third postponement when the cases of Mulisa Bernard and Willbard Neshuku resumed.

The police officers were arrested in January of this year.

Defence Counsel Martino Olivier objected to the postponement when the state requested a further delay and requested that the matter be struck off the court roll.

Olivier argued the court had already granted the state a final postponement to obtain the Prosecutor General's decision.

Equally, he contended that the state failed to even present evidence that the case had indeed been passed on for the Prosecutor General's decision to prosecute or not.

Magistrate Unchen Konjore, in her ruling on defence counsel's application to have the case struck off the roll, noted that the matter is almost 12-months on the court roll.

She gave the state 30 days to obtain the outstanding Prosecutor General's decision, warning that the case would be struck if the state was not serious.

She postponed the case until November 10 and extended the bail of the suspects.

Meanwhile, another police officer, Abraham Kaizer, appeared on charges related to domestic violence in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court.

It is alleged that Kaizer threatened to shoot his wife.

Magistrate Konjore also granted the state final postponement to November 10 to obtain the Prosecutor General's decision on Kaizer's case.

Kaizer, who was also represented by Olivier, remains free on bail.
