Living in a decent house is one of the factors that defines a decent and dignified life.

This is a satisfying life for 70 residents of Okahao in the Omusati Region who moved into their new houses constructed by the National Housing Enterprise (NHE).

The houses were constructed at a cost of N$27.3 million by the second contractor after the first one failed to deliver.

Earlier on, the NHE also handed over 50 houses to beneficiaries at Omuthiya, constructed at a cost of N$20 million, and 24 houses at Ondangwa, built at a cost of N$12 million.

Fishermen at Walvis Bay have established the October Seafarers United Land and Housing Federation, which will negotiate affordable land and housing for seafarers.

In 2015, a strike in the fishing industry led to massive job losses, and as a result, fishermen used to camp at the Kuisebmond stadium at Walvis Bay.

Eventually, the government stepped in and consulted companies to re-employ the people.

Although they had no physical employment, the fishermen were on the companies' payroll, and they decided to create a land and housing savings group.

The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) has commenced training the 2023 Housing and Population Census teams in the ||Kharas Region.

The Census is set to take place from September 18 to November 3.

184 teams and constituency supervisors were scheduled to attend the training; however, not all turned up.
