President Hage Geingob has appealed for the recommitment and upholding of human rights and the promotion of gender equality in commemoration of International Human Rights Day and Namibian Women's Day.

The two days are observed on December 10th every year.

Namibian Women's Day recognises the contributions and achievements of women throughout the country's history, while International Human Rights Day honours the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

World's first ammonia-powered vessel christened

President Hage Geingob has christened the world’s first ammonia-powered supply vessel, developed by Australia-based company Fortescue Future Industries.

Dr. Geingob was invited by Fortescue Executive Chairman and Founder Andrew Forrest to unveil the Fortescue Green Pioneer vessel, which has been converted to run in dual-fuel mode as it moves away from fossil fuels.

The vessel sailed from its base in Singapore and docked in Dubai, where world leaders, including President Geingob, are renewing calls for increased investments in renewable energy sources and projects.

Presidency dismisses allegations that gov paid for first couple's children's expenses

The Presidency has dismissed allegations that the government has paid for the flight tickets and other expenses of the first couple's children to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The children, Nangula Geingos, Dangos Nangula, Kayla Elago, and Nino Kalondo, all travelled to Dubai in their private capacity, with their expenses paid for by the first couple.

In a statement issued today, the Presidency clarified that for the past nine years, President Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos have not deviated from the Treasury regulations of the government.
