Venezuela's Ambassador to Namibia says he is proud of the trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Omar Paredes paid a courtesy call on President Nangolo Mbumba at State House earlier on Wednesday.

The recent inaugural Namibia-Venezuela Joint Commission of Cooperation meeting saw the identification of critical economic areas of interest, including mining, agriculture, and housing.

Potential products for trade from both sides identified encompass fish, beef, salt, minerals, and petroleum, among others.

For Ambassador Paredes, this is a heightened moment for bilateral relations as he ends his tour of diplomatic duty to Namibia in April.

Venezuela's revolutionary, Simon Bolivar, inspired many countries in their fight for freedom from colonial rule when he led a massive revolt against Spanish colonial rule in South America, beginning in 1810.

Namibia honoured the fallen South American revolutionary by naming a street after him in Windhoek, as the two countries have maintained sound relations since the era of struggle against colonial rule.

The Venezuelan Embassy gifted President Mbumba a portrait of the celebrated revolutionary.
