Ovambanderu pays homage to fallen heroes at Talismanus

Breadcrumb

The Ovambanderu community gathered over the weekend at Talismanus in the Otjombinde Constituency to pay homage to fallen heroes buried at one of the historical burial sites.

Among those remembered is Claudius Heuva, who played an integral role when the Ovambanderu people fled the Aminuis reserve area to Otjombinde.

The event started off with horseback riding and drilling, celebrating the legacy of the late pioneers of the Otjombinde area.

The gathering also represents another milestone within the community when it comes to preserving culture and customs.

After years of delay due to limited funds, 40 houses will be constructed at Aminuis in the Omaheke Region under the Build Together Project.

The construction of the houses, under the auspices of the Omaheke Regional Council, is expected to be completed before the end of this year.

This was made known by Aminuis Constituency Councillor Peter Kazongominja in an interview with nbc News, who says the project is long overdue and owning a house is not a luxury but a necessity.
