Rape incidents dominated crimes reported in the ||Kharas Region from New Year's Eve through the weekend, with police recording three separate cases.

As 2025 draws to a close, ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze has wished the region's inhabitants a happy New Year and established the tone for 2026. 

Delivering his new year message, Governor Gertze themed 2026 as the year of unity, decisive action and self-reliance. 

The Republican Party of Namibia (RP) has pledged to focus on agricultural development in the Zambezi and Kavango regions to boost job creation and reduce the migration of residents to Aussenkehr in the ||Kharas Region for employment in grape companies.
