Rape incidents dominated crimes reported in the ||Kharas Region from New Year's Eve through the weekend, with police recording three separate cases.

In Aussenkehr, an 18-year-old woman was raped in Block 5 during the early hours of Friday after drinking at a bar and falling asleep in a friend's room. A 20-year-old suspect allegedly entered and raped her. Police arrested him and he is expected to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate's Court on a rape charge.

In Aroab, a 32-year-old woman was raped in the early hours of Thursday after returning home from a club with her boyfriend. While asleep with the door left open due to the heat, she felt someone on top of her. Upon waking, she realised it was not her boyfriend but a 34-year-old suspect who fled. Police arrested him; he will appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court on a rape charge.

Police in Oranjemund arrested a 24-year-old suspect for the alleged rape of a 49-year-old woman on Saturday as they walked home together. The suspect allegedly demanded hugs and kisses as gratitude for having walked her home, then became aggressive, dragging her from a playground to a house in the Crest location. He pushed her against a wall and raped her despite her resistance, threatening to stab her if she screamed. Fearing for her life, the victim remained silent.
