Police in the ||Kharas Region have stepped up festive operations by deploying officers to help prevent crime and ensure public safety during the Christmas period.

With only two days until Christmas, foot traffic has surged at the Keetmanshoop Shopping Mall as residents hurry for last-minute festive shopping.

The NBC News crew in Keetmanshoop spoke to shoppers amid the bustling town, capturing their Christmas plans and messages.

The Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Dawid Gertze, has urged unity among communities and political leaders.

Gertze, who was speaking during a thanksgiving dinner for the elders, said peace must guide society beyond political differences.

A total of 15 children received gifts during the visit.

A group of concerned farmers from the ||Kharas region protested and handed over a petition to the ||Kharas Regional Council calling for an urgent intervention in the ongoing water crises affecting their communal farmland in the region.

A group of concerned Keetmanshoop residents protested against the municipality over alleged poor governance, financial mismanagement, nepotism, corruption and poor service delivery.

The Namibian Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPBD), in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, (KAS), held consultations with micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) in Keetmanshoop. 

The police in the ||Kharas Region have officially launched the road safety festive season operations today at Keetmanshoop.

Entrepreneur Knowledge Katti has donated a 10% stake in his oil and gas exploration company, Giraffe Energy, as well as N$1 million in cash to the ||Kharas Youth Trust. 

The handover happened during the signing of three youth-focused MoUs at Lüderitz on Tuesday.
