President Mbumba invites investors in ammonia and fertiliser production

NASRIA, Bank Windhoek to fund women, youth and SMEs

The Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association (NASRIA) and Bank Windhoek have joined forces to make access to funding for women, youth, and SMEs easy through a Credit Guarantee Scheme facility amounting to N$50 million.

Access to finance has always been a problem or limited to many business-aspiring youths and women, hence the agreement.

The credit scheme provides vital financial support to budding entrepreneurs, aiming to stimulate innovation and be a catalyst for job creation.

NTB to participate in Africa's Travel Indaba

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) will participate in Africa's Travel Indaba, where the country will exhibit its unique landscapes, cultural diversity, and generous wildlife.

The Namibian Tourism Board regulates tourism establishments and promotes Namibia as a prime tourist destination worldwide, with its unique landscapes, cultural diversity, and abundant wildlife.

It is for this reason that NTB announced in a media statement its participation in Africa's Travel Indaba conference, which will take place from the 13th to the 16th of May 2024 in Durban, South Africa. 

Government called to recognise 1915 Battle of Sam !Khubis

Kaptein of the Rehoboth Baster Community, Jacky Britz, has called on the government to recognise the 1915 Battle of Sam !Khubis.

Many Baster people died after facing the unforgiving wrath of the German colonial regime.

As the sun rose over the mountain tops at Sam !Khubis, the Baster community got ready to visit the graves of their fallen heroes, those whose blood was shed on May 8, some 109 years ago.

Hope Home-Based Health Care aided with specialised wheelchairs

Industrial Mill Services (TMS) donated specialised wheelchairs to Tsumeb-based Hope Home-Based Health Care, which has been taking care of people with disabilities since 2016.

All 119 of them use wheelchairs, while children with muscular disorders, cerebral palsy, or other conditions require specialised wheelchairs.

The Deputy Minister of Disability Affairs, Alexia Manombe-Ncube, says Namibians should collectively ensure that children are not left out due to their disabilities.

!Gawaxab, EOS Capital, NaCC agree on compliance with set regulatory regulations

Bank of Namibia Governor Johannes !Gawaxab says that EOS Capital, himself, and the Namibia Competitions Commission (NaCC) reached an agreement to ensure compliance with the set regulatory regulations.

However, the Central Bank Governor pointed out that the agreement is not an admission of guilt but a pragmatic solution to avoid prolonged legal proceedings. 

!Gawaxab was responding to a Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC) decision to fine him, together with two other parties, N$1 million for contravening merger regulations.

Special educational needs learners graduate from NIED

61 learners with special educational needs graduated from the National Institute of Educational Development (NIED) with basic vocational skills such as fashion and design.

NIED was established in 2012, and this is its first graduation ceremony for basic pre-vocational skills.

Learners are from special schools across the country, including Eros Girls School and Eluwa Special School, and are trained in fashion and design, tailoring, and hospitality.

Omaheke residents propose changes to Delimitation and Demarcation Commission

Residents of the Omaheke Region who attended the Delimitation and Demarcation Commission consultations have suggested several boundaries to the commission.

The commission is in the Omaheke Region to assess the boundaries of the region and its constituencies. 

The Chairperson of the Commission, Acting Judge Petrus Unengu, explained that the consultations were critical to assisting the Commission in formulating recommendations that might shape regional development.

Farm Bernafay commends government for support

The Chairperson of the Bernafay Community Cooperative, Johannes Jossob, is pleased with the effort and commitment made by the government to assist resettled communities to be productive.

One such community is resettled at Farm Bernafay in the Mariental Rural constituency. 

The government resettled 14 households at Farm Bernafay in 2002 with the idea of venturing into crop and livestock farming. 

Water has always been a problem; however, boreholes have been drilled through partnership.
