The National Democratic Party (NDP) leader, Martin Lukato, raised concerns about the water crisis in the Zambezi Region, particularly at the Queensland village in the Kongola Constituency.

The National Council Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Security, Constitutional and Legal Affairs visited the Katima Mulilo Border Post in the Zambezi Region on Monday to find out if recommendations proposed by the committee in 2022 have been implemented by the government.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security, James Uerikua, said the committee had a successful week-long working visit to the Zambezi Region.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Gender Equality, Health, and Social Welfare has noted an insufficient transport system and a shortage of health staff in the Zambezi Region.

Its chairperson, Nono Katjingisiua, said the community still walk long distances to access health services.

The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture has inaugurated a modern hostel facility at Ndoro Memorial Combined School in Kongola, in the Zambezi Region.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi engaged with disability centres in the Zambezi Region to promote inclusivity.

The Vice President visited the Mainstream Foundation, an organisation founded by parents of disabled children in 2008.

The Zambezi Region played a crucial role in Namibia's liberation struggle, as most SWAPO leaders crossed through the then-Caprivi Strip to Botswana, Zambia, and other African countries. 

Preparations are well on track for the 35th Heroes Day commemoration, which will be hosted in the Zambezi Region.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has criticised constituency councillors who did not attend his meeting aimed at discussing development and matters related to the Zambezi Regional Council.
