The National Assembly has suspended its business for the day in light of the death of Swapo Party MP James Uerikua.

Uerikua died in a car accident last Friday.

The National Assembly has conveyed its condolences following the death of its member, James Uerikua.

Uerikua is remembered for his service in legislative work and his contributions to the country.

Some Members of Parliament are still in disbelief over the death of 43-year-old Uerikua.

During debates on the N$460 million budget for the Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations, Members of Parliament raised concerns about fairness in the justice system, discriminatory provisions, inconsistent rulings, and poor infrastructure access in rural areas.

The National Assembly has approved the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy's vote of N$827 million.

The vote will now move to National Council.

Various members of Parliament in the National Assembly have raised a number of issues during the discussion of the Ministry of International Relations and Trade vote of a N$1.37 billion budget.

The country's defence budget vote, amounting to N$7.5 billion, has been approved in the National Assembly and will now be reviewed by the National Council.
