Namibia Investment Promotion Facilitation Bill to potentially introduce compliance officers

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill, if unchanged, will see the introduction of compliance officers to ensure that businesses operate within the confines of the laws.

Speaking at the stakeholders' engagement at Keetmanshoop, the Minister of Trade and Industrialization, Lucia Iipumbu, explained the benefits that come with the bill once it becomes law, as well as the National Consumer Policy and the Liquor Act.

Katima Mulilo's crime prevention operation a success

The crime prevention operation launched recently at Katima Mulilo has registered success in combating crime.

The operation, which included a community policing forum, was designed to improve crime-fighting strategies in response to reports of high rates of housebreaking in Choto and other compounds.

Only two cases of housebreaking have been reported since the operation started on the 16th of January, compared to an average of two cases per day before the launch.

Seaflower Whitefish Corporation improves operational efficiency despite financial challenges

Lüderitz-based Seaflower Whitefish Corporation, a subsidiary of state-owned enterprise Fishcor, is improving its operational efficiency despite financial challenges. 

Fishcor CEO Alex Gawa!nab says as part of the company's turnaround strategy, management last week engaged potential partners to look at how best it can prudently utilise its resources.

Moreover, the CEO added, it also had several engagements with the government on the prudent use of quota allocations.
