Lüderitz-based Seaflower Whitefish Corporation, a subsidiary of state-owned enterprise Fishcor, is improving its operational efficiency despite financial challenges.

Fishcor CEO Alex Gawa!nab says as part of the company's turnaround strategy, management last week engaged potential partners to look at how best it can prudently utilise its resources.

Moreover, the CEO added, it also had several engagements with the government on the prudent use of quota allocations.

Gawa!nab reiterated that the company is not reluctant to pay its workers bonuses and back payments as per a wage agreement signed in May this year.

He, however, says the company offered to pay only 50% of the bonuses and back payments to workers, while the remaining portion would be paid in instalments in order to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the company.
