Swapo in Erongo remembers late Geingob

Muhuura lauded the late President Geingob as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the service of his country and its people.

At this difficult time, he said the party's thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of President Geingob, as well as the entire nation of Namibia.

The Swapo Party, the political home of the late Dr. Hage Geingob, has been shattered by the sudden death of their party president, saying his passing came as a shock to many.

On Tuesday, they had a candlelight event in remembrance of the late president at the Swapo Regional Headquarters at Okandjegedi, where some described him as a good communicator and unifier.

Suspended ||Kharas councillors seek High Court intervention

The three Swapo Party representatives in the ||Kharas Regional Council filed an urgent High Court interdict on Friday, seeking a reversal of the council's decision to terminate their memberships.

The three—Lazarus Nangolo, Taimi Amakali, and Suzan Ndjaleka—were relieved from council duties because they absconded from meetings and refused to accept vacant council management committee positions.

Swapo Party recalls Oniipa mayor Jafet Nangolo

The Swapo Party has recalled the Oniipa mayor, Jafet Nangolo.

The Party directed Nangolo to refrain from all party activities and to not communicate with the local authorities, its Chief Executive Officer, and Swapo Councillors.

Swapo Party Regional Coordinator, Armas Amukwiyu, issued the suspension letter, saying it is in line with the Swapo Party Constitution and its Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.

Swapo leaders in ||Kharas prepare for national elections

The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has called on party members to accept criticism positively when canvassing votes for the 2024 national election slated for November this year.

He made the call when he officially opened an election campaign strategy workshop at Keetmanshoop. 

The purpose of the election campaign strategy workshop is to develop realistic strategies and approaches to be applied in the party's 2024 election campaign.

Mumbala further urged party members to defend the party and its leadership in public.

Former Swapo Chief Representative to Germany Obed Emvula conferred official funeral

Former Swapo Party Chief Representative to Germany, Obed Emvula, has been conferred an official funeral.

Emvula died on January 1.

The late Emvula's community's memorial service will be held tomorrow at Okando at 12 o'clock in the afternoon, while the official memorial is slated for the 13th, still at Okando, starting at 8:00 o'clock in the morning.

The official funeral will be held on the 14th, at half past seven in the morning.

Emvula, among others, served Swapo in various capacities in countries including the US, Zambia, and Algeria.

Swapo members urged to remain united

The Swapo Party Vice President has reminded party members and supporters to remain united and disciplined on all fronts, also calling on members to focus on strategic economic opportunities for national development.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah remarked this during a Swapo Party Rally at Gobabis.

Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised unity of purpose as a cornerstone of progress and nation-building, saying it should be embraced with discipline.
