Authors from SADC countries co-authored a book titled "Dominant Parties as Governments in Southern Africa: Their changing nature and its implications for democracy and democratic consolidation".

The book provides a research basis for students as well as policymakers.

The book covers case studies on Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe.

It captures the changing narratives and political dynamics in the Southern African context, honing in on former liberation movements turned governing parties.

Ondjombo Lodge opens in Omusati Region's Ruacana Constituency

The Centre for Resource and Transformation has inaugurated the Ondjombo Lodge at Ruacana Constituency of Omusati Region. 

This Lodge is built on the piece of land donated by the Uukolonkadhi Traditional Authority to the Founding President Dr Sam Nuujoma who then gave it to the Swapo Party Women's Council to develop, and thereby assist women in the area.

Household recycling pilot programme launched in Windhoek

A household recycling pilot programme was launched in Windhoek. It is aimed at effectively managing waste in Katutura's Luxury Hill area.

The pilot programme means to encourage residents to hold a positive attitude toward their environment and do their part to keep the City clean.

The solid waste management project is part of an agreement between the City of Windhoek and the Germany's Free Hanseatic City of Bremen titled 'Improving Solid Waste Management in Windhoek".

The project is financed by the European Union at a cost of N$36,8 million.

Zambezi Education Directorate launches customer service charter

The Zambezi Education Directorate hopes to improve access to services through its just-launched customer service charter.

The charters follow a directive by the Office of the Prime Minister last year for all ministries to establish functional customer charters.

Launching the concession on behalf of the Zambezi Governor Alfuea Sampofu, Katima Mulilo Urban Councillor, Kennedy Simasiku said he hoped it would serve towards improved service delivery in the region.

MICT rolls out pilot Digital Computer Literacy Program

The digital divide between urban and rural communities is getting narrower as the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology ensures that the young reap the benefits of the digital world.

To motivate this, the ministry will roll out a pilot Digital Computer Literacy Program to five regions following its launch in Tsumkwe.

The program is aimed at increasing digital computer literacy in rural areas.

It is one step towards achieving a 100% digital literacy rate in the country by 2030.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and National Services in collaboration with UNICEF launched the UPSHIFT program in the Omaheke Region, aimed at providing skills and presenting opportunities for social entrepreneurship among young people.

The UPSHIFT project is expected to provide funding to 18 young people to come up with innovative ideas for starting any business.

Speaking at the launch Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and National Service, Emma Kantema Gaomas, reminded the youth to come up with business proposals that speak to the needs of the community.
