A women empowerment organisation called LOLA was launched at Rundu with the hopes of changing the lives of young women there.

The launch was attended by learners from different schools.

Apart from its visibility in Europe and Asia, LOLA also has branches in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and other African countries.

"We want them to table their ideas, their perspectives; how can women be represented if our ideas are not put on paper if our ideas are not accommodated? LOLA is just a way to train; LOLA aims to recruit women that are passionate about leadership, that want to learn about leadership, and that aspire to be leaders in the future," said LOLA national president, Judith de Oliviera.

LOLA, which stands for Ladies of Liberty Alliance, hopes to open up branches in Windhoek, Katima Mulilo, and Oshakati.

Elizabeth Ndumba, a junior councillor, is one of the attendees and believes that initiatives like these are instrumental to building strong and resilient women.

"Let us learn how to understand ourselves, let us accept our body, let us be confident, and handle negative moods. overcome challenges, get motivated, build good relationships or friendships, and finish what you started. It's very important, as a young female who is embarking on a long, big journey in this world, that we always learn that wherever we start, we must always learn how to finish what we started, and for us not to give up."

The junior councillor says women are at their strongest when they motivate and uplift one another.

"So let no one tell you what you cannot do or what you can do; you have the power to rise overall challenges and crush all stereotypes and bases that rise against you and against us. You have the power to change the world, and when you do all this, you will find people cheering for you and smiling proudly, knowing that we have something to do with it."

She called on young girls to take this opportunity and build themselves.
