Home Affairs office at Nkurenkuru understaffed

The Chairperson of the Kavango West Regional Council, Joseph Sikongo, calls on the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security to increase the staff numbers at the Nkurenkuru Home Affairs office.

The office is reportedly only operating with two staff members.

The Chairperson of Kavango West Regional Council says the office is supposed to serve all eight constituencies in the region.

Recently, he brought 15 people from Tondoro Constituency to acquire national documents, which was too much for the office to process at that particular time.

Abandoned Environment Ministry office in Kavango East Region dilapidated

An office building that was constructed five years ago to accommodate staff members of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism in the Kavango East Region's Mukwe Constituency is yet to be occupied.

The building is now dilapidated.

The office was constructed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reform before it was transferred to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

The staff for whom the building was constructed are currently accommodated at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform Office in Divundu.

TKCS office inaugurated

The Ministers of Transport for Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa have inaugurated the office of the Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat (TKCS) in Windhoek.

This came after the three countries signed an agreement on the development and management of the Kalahari Corridor in 2003.

The TKCS was established and housed in Windhoek, and as a stipulation for hosting the Secretariat, the Namibian government is obliged to provide an office to be used as its headquarters.

Construction of Social Security Otjiwarongo Regional Office starts

All Social Security Commission (SSC) services will soon become easily accessible to residents of Otjiwarongo and the surrounding areas as the commission initiates the construction of the Otjiwarongo Regional Office.

The construction of the state-of-the-art building, with a budget of N$20 million, has already commenced and is expected to be completed by August of next year.

All Nkurenkuru Town Council office bearers re-elected

All office-bearers at the Nkurenkuru Town Council have been re-elected.

Mayor Marcus Muti was re-elected for the second term, deputized by Fani Kaundu.

Muti says Nkurenkuru will continue to implement socio-economic development programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of its residents.

He believes residents of the town and the council can work together to reverse the effects of some of the social ills affecting them.

Most office-bearers in the Otjiwarongo Municipality and Otavi Town Council retained their positions.

Kandiwapa Shivute and Isaac !Hoaeb retained their positions as mayors of Otjiwarongo and Otavi, respectively.

Otjiwarongo council, with seven seats, is led by Swapo councillors, followed by opposition parties with one seat each.
 
Shivute is to be deputized by Julienda Kampungu. While Gothard Hoko was elected Chairperson of the Management Committee.

Among the pledges are to fight corruption, award performance contracts to government officials, and stop the looting and wastage of state funds.

GIPF holds groundbreaking ceremony for new office in Oshana

A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new office for the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) took place at Ondangwa in the Oshana Region.

GIPF, the largest pension fund in Namibia, procured land for the construction of a new office complex at Ondangwa, which will be constructed at a cost of N$38.3 million.

GIPF has a membership base of close to 146, 000 active and annuitant members countrywide.
