SOEs not compelled to seek approval on subsistence & travel allowances

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says state-owned enterprises (SOE) are governed by their own laws, and there's no requirement for them to report subsistance and travel allowances to her office.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila was responding to questions raised by Landless People's Movement MP Utaara Mootu on why ministers are given such allowances by parastatals.

Mootu inquired specifically about the Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandji-Murangi, who allegedly received S&T allowances in July last year.

Lack of male role models contribute to boys underperforming in education

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia Professor Kenneth Matengu pointed out that a lack of male role models is one of the contributing factors to boys underperforming in education.

Professor Matengu was speaking at the Rundu Campus graduation ceremony.

Of the more than 580 students who graduated from the School of Nursing, Education and Commerce at the Rundu Campus, 66% are female.

Dr. Itah Kandji-Murangi urges citizens to get involved in nation-building

The Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandji-Murangi, has called on the new graduates to contribute to nation-building.

Dr. Itah Kandji-Murangi made the call during the graduation ceremony of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). 

The ceremony saw 724 students graduate from four faculties, including 101 master's graduates and 34 international graduates from eight countries.
