The Freedomland suburb in Windhoek launched its own Neighbourhood Watch, following an increase in the number of criminal activities in the area.

The launch was witnessed by top police brass and the local political leadership.

In the past, residents walked freely without fear, be it day or night, to carry out their activities.

Some were even sleeping with their doors open when it was too hot.

But with the spate of crimes of different forms and sorts, including violent ones, this has become totally impossible.
