Swapo Party Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has called for unity among party members ahead of next year's Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Addressing a rally at Katima Mulilo, Nandi-Ndaitwah says last year's Swapo Party Congress is unique, urging members to draw strength from it.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said she is looking forward to a healthy relationship with all the party members and supporters and is ready to perform to the best of her abilities if elected as the country's president.

The President of the National Unity Democratic Organization (NUDO), Dr Utjiua Muinjangue has sent a congratulatory message to the Vice President of the Swapo Party, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her re-election.

Dr Muinjangue says it is her wish to see more women take leadership positions within various political parties in the country.

She says it has been a persistent trend that women are excluded from the power and decision-making processes.

Candidates contesting three of the top positions in the Swapo Party made presentations to delegates at Rundu in the Kavango East Region.

Regional Coordinator Ottilie Shinduvi says the intra-party campaign went according to the guidelines as agreed by the Central Committee.

The media was only allowed to have a glimpse of the candidates at a highly guarded meeting.

A large number of delegates from the Kavango East as well as those who travelled from other regions turned up to listen to the contestants.
