NFCPT partners with SMEs to boost fish distribution

The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) has embarked on an innovative strategy to enhance fish distribution across the country. 

The trust has signed contracts with 13 small and medium enterprises to facilitate the distribution of fish to consumers at affordable prices.

The 13 SMEs, selected from a pool of trained entrepreneurs, are part of a 6-month Distribution Agency Pilot Project. 

This project marks a shift in the trust's approach, aiming to collaborate with stakeholders in the fish distribution sector rather than competing with them.

Young entrepreneur contributes to food sustainability

A young entrepreneur from Okaruikombungu Village in the Otjombinde Constituency, Kahitee Keeja, is determined to keep the garden project she runs going despite the limited resources at her disposal.

Food sustainability and job creation are key reasons for this determination, she tells nbc News during a visit to her two-hectare garden project in Omaheke Region.

Green-fingered Kahitee Keeja says that the garden was started last year with onion and potato planting, but unfavourable weather patterns affected most of the potato produce, with onions fairing a bit better.

ZVTC holds innovation and entrepreneurship day

The Zambezi Vocational Training Centre held an innovation and entrepreneurship day to give trainees an opportunity to showcase skills in their respective trades.

The event, which was held at the Katima Mulilo open market, showcased various items made by students from all fields of studies.

Speaking at the open day, the Zambezi Governor, Alufea Sampofu, encouraged tertiary applicants to consider vocational training as an important step towards self-employment and national development.

Female Entrepreneurship Boot-camp underway

The Business Financial Solutions and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, in partnership with Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RIGA Business School, are hosting a Female Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for young girls in Windhoek.

Themed "She Rebuilds the World," the training aims to bring young women under one roof in an effort to help them grow and build sustainable businesses and contribute to the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises in the country.
