Ariamsvlei is a border town in the ||Kharas Region and home to around 500 residents.

Despite its significance as a border with South Africa along the national B3 road, residents there feel overlooked in terms of development and support.

Community members expressed frustration with the local council's decision to build a stall in the settlement, claiming it serves no practical purpose. 

Residents further argue that the border's bustling activity presents untapped opportunities for business ventures and economic growth. 

They are eager to create sustainable livelihoods but say their efforts are hampered by a lack of investment and attention from authorities.

The settlement, located 110 kilometres east of Karasburg, plays a critical role in cross-border trade and travel. However, residents feel that Ariamsvlei's economic potential is not being maximised. 

They are urging the government to prioritise their needs, especially by moving facilities closer to the border and offering support for entrepreneurship. 

The residents hope that their concerns will spark dialogue and action in 2025 to unlock the settlement's economic potential and improve their quality of life.
