PSC request for a pending review of the Public Service Act accelerated

The Public Service Commission (PSC) wants a pending review of the Public Service Act accelerated, saying the law is creating serious challenges in its current form.

The Public Service Commissioners, led by Chairperson Saalman Jacobs, outlined some of the recommendations to President Hage Geingob and Cabinet Ministers at the State House.

The challenges and recommendations are contained in the annual report.

The review of the Public Service Act of 1995 started with consultations eight years ago, which the Commission says is long overdue.

About 18 employers appear before Review Panel due to non-compliance with Affirmative Action Act

For the first time in the history of the Employment Equity Commission (EEC), 18 employers appeared before the Review Panel due to non-compliance with the Affirmative Action Act last week.

The summoning of 18 employers came after the Employment Equity Commission disapproved their affirmative action reports because they did not meet the requirements set out in the Employment Act.

The Panel Review discussed the shortcomings of the employers, which entailed questionable figures or insufficient planning, amongst others.
