The late President Hage Geingob was preparing to venture into full-time farming after his presidency in 2025.

In December 2022, Dr. Geingob hosted the nbc and MICT production crew for a tour around Farm Hadaloha.

Along the fertile lands of the famous maize triangle is the Geingob family farm, Hadaloha, situated along the road to Tsumeb from Otavi, with an estimated 60 000 hectares of arable land.

Landless Farmers at Gobabis Seek Resettlement Land

A group of concerned farmers residing on the outskirts of Gobabis are demanding usable agricultural land.

The farming community sought an audience with the regional leadership to address the issue, as farming within the municipal area is against the law.

The group spokesperson, Petrina Awa-Eieses, says that most farmers on Gobabis townlands are former farm workers who were dumped by their employers in town some years ago.

Kalahari Constituency Councillor, Ignatius Kariseb has called on the crop farming communities to come up with sustainable agricultural methods in order to unlock the full potential of the sector.

Kariseb made this remark during the 7th Omaheke Crop Farmers Day held at Blouberg Settlement in the Kalahari Constituency.

Kariseb emphasised that food security in the region is a key aspect of addressing malnutrition in the region.

Kariseb also implored the crop-farming communities to capitalise on Farmers Day to share relevant information about the agricultural sector.

Farming community in Epukiro speaks out against escalating stock theft incidents

Speaking at Omaueuozonjanda in the Epukiro Constituency CASO Vice Chairperson Kahepako Kakujaha says it is time to strengthen the security level in the constituency to curb stock theft.

A 17-year-old schoolboy runs poultry business in backyard

A 17-year-old schoolboy, Antonio Araeb, and his mother established a poultry business in 2021 by buying 30 one-day-old chicks at a subsidized price from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Araeb's love for farming started at Rooi Duine Secondary School, where he is currently studying agriculture as his main subject.

"The Ministry of Agriculture also assisted us with the food tray and the water tray, which you can see there, and now we are doing the poultry business, which is going well."

Farmers Encouraged to Improve Quality of Livestock

A committee member of the Eiseb Farmers Association, Zambia Kavari, has called on fellow farmers to work hard and improve the quality of livestock.

Kavari said the association is also working tirelessly to assist the farming community in organizing livestock marketing days where they can share crucial information to better their livelihoods.

According to Kavari, agriculture, as the majority's main source of income, requires special attention, particularly in improving livestock quality to provide farmers with good returns.

Omaheke Governor & delegation in Zimbabwe on a benchmarking mission

A delegation led by Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate is in Zimbabwe on a benchmarking mission.

The delegation, among others, is hoping to gain some insight into how that country is dealing with unemployment through innovative technologies.

The delegation comprises the regional leadership and the farming community. 

Zimbabwe is one of the countries that has adopted and is innovating new technologies in order to increase productivity and create jobs.
