MIT honours late former Minister of Trade Geingob

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade honoured the late President Dr. Hage Geingob, who served as the minister from 2008 to 2012, for his significant contributions to expanding Namibia's trade and industrial initiatives.

The Ministry hosted a candlelight vigil to celebrate the life and legacy of the late President.

Minister Lucia Iipumbu addressed the mourners and narrated the achievements of the late President during his time as the Minister of the then Trade and Industry Ministry, which has since been renamed the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade.

Investment Promotion, Facilitation Bill to attract investments

The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, is confident that the Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill, once it becomes law, will attract, retain, and facilitate both domestic and foreign sustainable investments.

Iipumbu said this during a stakeholder consultation meeting on the Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill.

Namibian Standards Institution celebrates World Metrology Day

The Executive Director in the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization Sikongo Haihambo has commended the Namibian Standards Institution for ensuring that there is fair trade in the economy.

He said this during the celebration of the World Metrology at Rundu.

Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) celebrated World Metrology Day, under the theme 'Measurements supporting the global food system".

World Metrology Day is an annual celebration of the signing of the 20 May 1875 Metre Convention.

Over 80 countries around celebrate the impact of measurement daily.

First EU/Namibia quality infrastructure forum underway in Windhoek

The first EU/Namibia quality infrastructure forum is underway following a twinning project, providing support to the Namibia Standard Institution and the Industrialization and Trade Ministry.

This entails areas such as standardization, certification, trade, and industry.

The forum, among others, will enhance understanding of how important quality infrastructure is in effectively promoting quality products and services within domestic markets as well as the significance of such infrastructure in facilitating access to international markets.

MIT in collaboration with UNDP engages Zambezi Region business community

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade, in collaboration with the Namibia Trade Forum and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), recently held an engagement with the business community in the Zambezi Region.

The engagement involved sensitizing business owners on the opportunities and benefits presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement and sharing information on them.
