Namibia invited to join International Hydrogen Trade Forum

Namibia is accorded an opportunity to contribute to the global collaboration agenda for advancing the green hydrogen ecosystem following an invitation to join the International Hydrogen Trade Forum.

Namibia is a member of the International Hydrogen Trade Forum through the Namibian Green Hydrogen Programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The forum is imperative for high-level discussions between importing and exporting nations, ensuring the development of global trade corridors for hydrogen and its derivatives.

SACU member states to benefit from reduced trade costs

Accredited traders in Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, and South Africa will now benefit from reduced trade costs and simplified import-export procedures.

This positive development is the result of a mutual recognition arrangement signed by the five member states of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).

Through the agreement, the Commissioners General of Revenue Authorities in the five countries agreed to recognise one another's authorised economic operators (AEO).

A journalist from Lesotho National Broadcasting Service (LNBS), Tieang Maraisane, spent two weeks at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) as part of a program aimed at equipping regional media practitioners with skills and expanding their knowledge in broadcast journalism.

The program is part of the Public Media Alliance project's initiatives and offers members an equal opportunity to exchange ideas, views, and best practices in public media.

Maraisane was one of eight journalists chosen to participate in the program this year.

Dr Geingob joined fellow regional leaders, including presidents Cyril Ramaphosa, Hakainde Hichilema, and Mokgweetsi Masisi, to witness the swearing-in of Prime Minister Sam Matekane in the capital, Maseru.

Thousands descended on the Setsoto Stadium as Prime Minister Matekane took the oath.
