Motorists travelling between Usakos and Swakopmund could soon be monitored around the clock through a live surveillance system aimed at improving road safety and emergency response.

Erongo Police confirmed that eight people died in a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck between Swakopmund and Arandis around 21:00 last night.

QKR Navachab Gold Mine donated industrial equipment worth N$250,000 to the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology -NIMT in Arandis.

The residents, mainly elderly individuals, and pregnant women told the nbc News team that they are disheartened by the continuous need to rent accommodation. 

One person died in a fatal accident this morning on the B2 road outside Arandis involving a single cab bakkie and a truck. 

The accident was caused by sandstorms.

More than 100 senior citizens of Arandis staged a demonstration over alleged poor management by the town council.
