Stinkwater murder accused appear in court

Edward Rooi, the Stinkwater murder accused, made his first appearance at the Katutura Magistrates Court today.

Rooi is accused of shooting and killing his 57-year-old wife, Getrude Rooi, and his 30-year-old daughter, Goldie Landsberg, over the weekend.

The suspect is further alleged to have shot and injured two more people, one of whom has since also died, as was announced this afternoon.

At this point, Rooi stands charged with eight counts, including two of murder, four counts of attempted murder, and two counts of malicious damage to property.

Children of the late Gertrud Rooi say NamPol's Gender-Based Violence Investigation Unit and the police at Dordabis are aware of their father's alleged abusive nature.

The 57-year-old Rooi and her 30-year-old daughter, Goldie Landsberg, were allegedly shot dead on Saturday at Stinkwater by Edward Rooi.

Reporter Emil Seibeb and cameraman Festus Mbendeka visited the family's home this morning, where the late Rooi's children told them of how they grew up in a toxic and violent environment with their father, who now faces murder charges.
